The Senate of Bayero University Kano (BUK) has officially expelled 171 students for falsifying their admission credentials. This decisive action follows a comprehensive investigation into “entry qualification irregularities,” revealing that many students gained admission through dishonest means.
The university confirmed that BUK expels 171 students 2026 in its official weekly bulletin released today, Monday, March 23. This move reinforces the institution’s commitment to academic integrity and zero tolerance for fraud.

Why BUK Took This Action
The Senate Committee on Entry Qualification Irregularities uncovered that the affected students submitted forged O-Level results and fake Diploma certificates during their screening process.
By submitting these fraudulent documents, the students violated Section 20.7, Category A (vii) of the General Examinations and Academic Regulations (GEAR). The university maintains that expulsion is the mandatory penalty for any student who falsifies admission data to bypass the standard requirements.
Upholding Academic Standards
This latest crackdown, where BUK expels 171 students 2026, serves as a stern warning to all current and prospective students. The university management emphasized that they will continue to “sanitise the institution’s academic records” to protect the prestige of a BUK degree.
In addition to the mass expulsion for fraud, the Senate also expelled Yusuf Muhammad Sani, a Civil Engineering student. Sani reportedly physically assaulted invigilators during an examination, a violent breach of the school’s disciplinary code.
What This Means for Aspirants
University verification systems are now more advanced than ever. BUK’s recent actions prove that the school can detect fake results even years after a student has started their programme.
If you are applying for the 2026/2027 session, ensure that every document you upload—from WAEC and NECO results to National Diplomas—is 100% genuine. Academic shortcuts lead only to a dead end.
