Reasons for the Immediate Closure
Primarily, intense demonstrations triggered the OAU Mid-Semester Break April 2026 after students disrupted academic activities and blocked major access roads. Furthermore, the protesters expressed deep frustration over the newly introduced transportation system. They claim the new policy caused long queues, increased costs, and significant delays for those reaching lecture halls. Although preliminary engagements took place between management and the Students’ Union, the situation worsened. Therefore, the Senate approved the break to protect the safety of all students and staff.

In light of this announcement, the university directs all resident students to vacate their halls of residence immediately.
