The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning to all tertiary institution candidates: admission regularization is no longer an option. Every student must understand that any admission offered outside the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is illegal and will not be recognized by the Federal Government.
The End of Regularization
In previous years, candidates who accepted “internal” admissions from schools could apply for regularization to validate their records later. JAMB has officially terminated this practice. If you accept an offer that does not reflect on your official JAMB Admission Letter and CAPS profile, you risk your entire academic future, as the Board will not condone or “fix” these errors after the fact.
The Danger of Illegal Admissions
Accepting an admission offer directly from a university or polytechnic without JAMB’s involvement is a high-risk move. Such admissions are considered “irredeemably null and void.” Candidates who bypass the official system will face several consequences:
- No NYSC: You will be ineligible for the National Youth Service Corps.
- Invalid Degree: Your certificate will not be recognized for government employment or professional licensing.
- Exclusion from Matriculation List: Your name will never appear on the official national database of students.
How to Ensure Your Admission is Valid
To secure your academic future, you must verify your status through the official channels. A valid admission must meet these two criteria:
- Approval on CAPS: You must log in to the JAMB portal and “Accept” your offer under the CAPS section.
- Official Printout: You must possess a JAMB Admission Letter and CAPS confirmation printed directly from your eFacility account.
What to Do If You Are Not Yet Admitted
If your institution claims to have offered you admission, but your portal remains blank, do not pay any acceptance fees to the school yet. Instead, visit the school’s admission office and demand that they upload your name to the JAMB portal. Until you can print your official JAMB Admission Letter and CAPS document, you are not legally a student of that institution.
