The Management of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has officially postponed the Orientation and Matriculation ceremonies for the 2025/2026 academic session. Newly admitted students must note the crucial date changes.
Registrar Mr. Ademola A. Bobola issued the revised schedule in a circular dated Monday, December 15, 2025.
Revised Ceremonial Schedule
The original dates, which clashed with the year-end festive season, are now adjusted:

| Matriculation Ceremony | Friday, 19th December 2025 | Wednesday, 28th January 2026 |
Why UNIBEN Moved the Dates
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Edoba B. Omoregie, SAN, approved the decision on behalf of the Senate. The primary reasons necessitating the UNIBEN Matriculation Reschedule are clear:
- Accommodate Students: A significant number of new students have not yet completed their mandatory clearance and registration processes.
- Avoid Festive Clash: The original schedule coincided with the busy festive period.
Important: Academic Activities Remain Uninterrupted
Crucially, the circular emphasized that regular academic activities, including lectures, will continue uninterrupted. These activities commenced on the approved start date of November 10, 2025, and departments must follow the approved timetable.
All newly admitted students, parents, and stakeholders must take note of this adjustment for strict compliance. Do not miss these new dates!
