The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has confirmed that the 2026 May/June WASSCE will be conducted entirely through Computer-Based Testing (CBT) — a bold move that will redefine how secondary school students sit for the exam.
For the first time in history, all candidates will write the WAEC CBT Exams 2026, marking the council’s full transition into digital assessments.
WAEC Launches Nationwide Digital Campaign
According to Dr. Amos Dangut, WAEC Nigeria’s Head of Office, the council has already started a nationwide sensitization campaign to help schools, teachers, and students — even in remote areas — adapt to this major change.
“This is not just a shift in technology,” Dr. Dangut stated. “It’s a shift towards global competitiveness and examination integrity.”
