At the 2026 JAMB Policy Meeting held today, Monday, May 11, 2026, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and academic stakeholders finalized the official deadlines for the 2026/2027 admission cycle.
The Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, warned that institutions failing to meet these timelines will lose access to the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) for the current session.
JAMB Admission Portal Closing 2026: Official Deadlines Set
During the annual policy meeting in Abuja today, the Federal Government finalized the JAMB Admission Portal Closing 2026 schedule for all tertiary institutions. Specifically, the board has categorized these deadlines to ensure a streamlined academic calendar nationwide. Consequently, candidates must monitor their admission status on CAPS closely, as any offer not accepted before the institution’s portal closes will be permanently forfeited.
Official Admission Deadlines for 2026/2027 Session
Indeed, the stakeholders agreed on the following dates for the completion of the 2026 admission exercise:

The Four-Week Acceptance Rule
Notably, JAMB has introduced a strict “Four-Week Rule” regarding admission offers. Primarily, once an institution offers you admission on CAPS, you have exactly four weeks to either accept or reject it. Therefore, if you do not take action within this window, the system will automatically withdraw the offer, making you ineligible for further consideration in that specific cycle.
Why You Must Monitor the JAMB Admission Portal Closing 2026
Specifically, Prof. Oloyede emphasized that these deadlines aim to prevent the “illegal admission” backlog that has plagued previous sessions. Indeed, once a category’s deadline passes, the board will shut down its portal access. Consequently, any admission conducted after these dates will not be recognized by JAMB, and the affected students will not receive official admission letters or be eligible for NYSC mobilization in the future.
