WAEC Compulsory NIN Requirement
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has issued a mandatory directive making the National Identification Number (NIN) compulsory for all school candidates registering for the 2027 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Under this policy, secondary schools across the country will no longer be able to register students without verifying their unique identity numbers against the database of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

Directives for Secondary School Principals and Candidate Parents

NIMC Profile Matching: Schools are instructed to cross-check student school admission records against their official NIMC profile slips before inputting data into the WAEC offline registration portal.
Correction of Discrepancies: Parents whose wards have discrepancies between their school register details and NIMC profiles must process official data modifications at an accredited NIMC center immediately.
No NIN, No Registration: The council confirmed that the registration portal will reject any candidate profile submission that lacks valid NIN validation.
