UNIBEN matriculation ceremony postponed
The management of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has announced the postponement of the matriculation ceremony originally scheduled for newly admitted undergraduate students of the 2026/2027 academic session.
The decision was communicated through an official circular issued by the University Registrar, directing all newly admitted students, faculty members, and the university community to take note of the schedule change.
Reasons for the Postponement
According to the university management, the postponement became necessary to allow incoming fresh students across various faculties ample time to complete their mandatory online screening, physical clearance, and course registration processes.
The extension is also aimed at accommodating newly admitted students from recent supplementary admission lists whose clearance processes are still ongoing across departments.
Key Directives for Newly Admitted UNIBEN Students
Fresh students are advised to utilize the extended window to complete all outstanding administrative requirements before the new ceremony date:
- Complete Online & Physical Screening: Ensure all required credentials (JAMB Admission Letter, O’Level results, birth certificate, and local government identification) are fully verified at your respective faculty screening centers.
- Payment of School Charges: Pay all mandatory university school charges via the official student portal to enable course registration.
- Course Registration: Complete online course registration on the UNIBEN portal and submit hard copies to your Departmental Officer for official signing.
- Matriculation Gown Collection: Details regarding the collection of academic gowns, payment guidelines, and departmental distribution points will be announced by faculty officers once the revised date is finalized.
Expected New Date and Official Updates
Management assured the university community that a new date for the 2026/2027 matriculation ceremony will be officially announced in due course.
Students and parents are strongly advised to rely only on official university channels, including the main portal (uniben.edu.ng), for verified information regarding academic calendar schedules.
