NECO Opens UK Exam Centre for Nigerians in Diaspora

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has opened a new exam centre in London, United Kingdom, to make its exams more accessible to Nigerians living abroad.

This move expands NECO’s global reach and allows students in the diaspora to take the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) without returning to Nigeria.

Launch at the Education Matters Conference UK 2025

NECO launched the London centre during the Education Matters Conference UK 2025.
The Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, said the project was done in partnership with Barnfield Education Ltd.

According to him, the new centre shows NECO’s commitment to giving every Nigerian, home or abroad, fair access to quality assessment.

Growing NECO’s Global Network

With the new London centre, NECO now operates in seven countries, including Saudi Arabia.
It is also planning new centres in Egypt and Burkina Faso, pending approval.

Prof. Wushishi explained that this international expansion supports Nigerians overseas and boosts the global recognition of NECO certificates.

Global Acceptance of NECO Certificates

NECO certificates are already recognized by several universities abroad, such as:

Birmingham City University (UK)
Leeds Trinity University (UK)
And many institutions in the United States, Canada, India, China, and Russia

The London centre, he said, would help Nigerians in the UK gain easier access to exams that are valid both at home and abroad.
