The Management of Lagos State University (LASU) has announced the schedule for the highly anticipated 29th and 30th Combined Convocation Ceremony, set to take place in August 2026.
This combined event will honor graduates from multiple academic sessions, bringing together thousands of students, parents, and alumni at the Ojo Main Campus. If you are among the graduands, this guide provides the essential timeline and requirements to ensure you don’t miss any critical steps.
Expected Schedule of Events
While the university will release the specific daily “Order of Proceedings” closer to the date, LASU convocations traditionally follow this prestigious 8-day sequence:
- Day 1: Convocation Press Conference (Senate Building).
- Day 2: Convocation Sports Competition for staff and students.
- Day 3: Special Jumat Service at the University Mosque.
- Day 4: Special Thanksgiving Service at the University Chapel.
- Day 5: Coconut Breaking Festival (Badagry Gate) & Convocation Play.
- Day 6: Convocation Lecture.
- Day 7: Award of Diplomas and First Degrees.
- Day 8: Award of Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s, and Doctorate Degrees (PhD).
Vital Information for Graduands
To participate in the 2026 ceremony, all graduands must adhere to the following university protocols:
1. Payment of Convocation Fees
All students must pay the mandatory convocation package fee via the LASU Payment Portal. This fee covers your academic gown rental, the certificate folder, and the convocation brochure. Ensure you keep your receipt for gown collection.
2. Academic Gowns & Hoods
Gowns are to be collected from your respective Faculty Offices.
Note: Gowns must be returned by the Friday following the ceremony. Failure to return the gown on time usually attracts a daily fine of N500 or more.
3. Graduation Clearance
Certificates are typically ready for collection immediately after the ceremony. However, you must complete your departmental and library clearances beforehand.
Convocation Venue & Arrival
The main ceremonies will hold at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, Ojo. Due to the high number of attendees for a combined 29th and 30th ceremony, graduands are advised to be seated by 8:30 AM prompt.
