The Governing Council of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has approved a major promotion exercise. Specifically, the Council elevated 45 staff members to the rank of professor and associate professor. This announcement came through a statement by the Acting Director of University Relations, Professor Saeedat B. Aliyu. The decision marks a significant milestone for the institution’s academic growth. Consequently, the university now boasts a strengthened faculty across multiple disciplines, from Allied Health Sciences to Engineering and Social Sciences.

The promotion exercise divided the 45 academics into two distinct categories. For instance, 20 staff members attained the status of full Professor. Meanwhile, the remaining 25 staff members were elevated to the rank of Associate Professor. The Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Engineering produced several of these new leaders. Specifically, new professors include Henry Olawale Sawyerr (Environmental Health Toxicology) and Olayinka Jelil Yusuf (Agricultural Extension). This spread across faculties ensures that KWASU maintains high research standards in all departments.
