ATBU Postgraduate Admission Form 2026
The School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has officially announced the sale of online application forms for the 2026/2027 academic session. Consequently, applications are now invited from suitably qualified candidates looking to enroll in Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Professional/Academic Masters, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs.
The application portal officially opened on Monday, July 13, 2026, and is scheduled to remain active until October 31, 2026. Early submission is highly encouraged to facilitate timely credential vetting and transcript reconciliation.
ATBU Postgraduate Programs & General Admission Requirements
Candidates must satisfy distinct academic benchmarks depending on their level of entry:
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Requirements
- O’Level Balance: Minimum of five credit passes (including English Language and Mathematics).
- Academic Criteria: A third-class degree from ATBU or any other recognized university, or a Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a Lower Credit from an accredited institution.
Master’s Degree (M.Sc., M.Tech., M.Eng., MBA, etc.) Requirements
- O’Level Balance: Five relevant credit passes including English Language and Mathematics.
- Academic Criteria: A minimum of a Second Class Lower degree from a recognized institution.
- Note: Candidates with lower grade points (CGPA of 2.40 to 2.99) may be considered if they possess relevant post-graduation work experience or a matching Postgraduate Diploma.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Requirements
- Academic Criteria: A relevant Master’s degree with a strong academic record from ATBU or a recognized university.
- Special Requirement: Applicants must prepare and upload a comprehensive research proposal/synopsis during the online portal session.
Mandatory National Service Rule: All applicants must possess a valid NYSC Discharge Certificate or a formal Exemption Certificate. Candidates without these national service clearance credentials will be automatically disqualified.

The registration procedure is handled entirely on the dedicated school cloud network. Follow this operational sequence to submit your profile:

Launch your web browser and navigate directly to the official portal endpoint layout at pgatbu.admissions.cloud.
2.Create Your Candidate Profile:Step 2.
Initialize a new applicant account. Ensure you enter a functional, personal email address and active mobile number for all future institutional alerts.
3.Pay the Application Fee:Step 3.
Generate your payment invoice profile and settle the non-refundable processing fee of ₦11,000.00. Complete this transaction securely online using your debit card or print the payment slip for bank branch settlement.
4.Upload Credentials & Research Details:Step 4.
Log back in to populate your biographical database. Upload scanned copies of your degree certificates, O’Level credits, and NYSC papers. If you are applying for a PhD track, upload your mandatory research proposal/synopsis here.
5.Request Academic Transcripts:Step 5.
Instruct your previous alma mater to forward your Official Academic Transcripts directly to the Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.
