Last-Minute Intervention to Prevent ASUU FG Strike Talks Collapse
The high-stakes meetings, which are scheduled for Monday, November 24, and Tuesday, November 25, 2025, were convened by the FG’s team, led by the Yayale Ahmed Renegotiation Committee. Consequently, the decision to schedule the talks comes just after ASUU’s one-month ultimatum—issued following the suspension of its last industrial action—expired on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Therefore, with the ultimatum lapsed, the Union’s National Executive Council (NEC) is now fully empowered to declare an indefinite strike at any moment.

- Revitalization Funds: The non-release of committed funds required for the revitalisation of public universities.
- Earned Academic Allowances (EAA): The backlog and non-payment of Earned Academic Allowances due to lecturers.
- 2009 Agreement: The crucial need for the review and implementation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU Agreement, which addresses conditions of service, funding, and university autonomy.

In essence, should the Federal Government fail to satisfy ASUU’s demands or provide an acceptable implementation timeline, the union is expected to immediately proceed with an indefinite industrial action.
