OAU Postgraduate Admission Form 2026
The Postgraduate College of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has officially opened its online application portal for the 2026/2027 Harmattan Semester academic session. Consequently, applications are now invited from qualified candidates seeking admission into various Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s (Academic and Professional), Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs.

The portal is actively receiving submissions, with registration deadlines for the majority of departments set for July 31, 2026. Candidates are strongly advised to complete their applications early to ensure smooth academic transcript processing.
OAU Postgraduate Programs & General Requirements
Applicants must meet the rigorous academic benchmarks established by the Postgraduate College Board before securing admission:
1. O’Level Matriculation Baseline
- All candidates must satisfy the undergraduate matriculation requirements of OAU. This includes five (5) O’Level credit passes (including English Language for all programs and Mathematics where required) at not more than two sittings.
2. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Tracks
- A minimum of a Third Class degree from OAU or any other recognized university, or an HND (minimum of Upper Credit) in a matching discipline from an accredited polytechnic.
3. Master’s Degree Programs (M.A., M.Sc., M.Ed., etc.)
- A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of a Second Class Lower Division (or a B average / 3.0 CGPA on a 4.0 scale) from a recognized university.
4. Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) Programs
- A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of a Second Class Upper Division, or a Coursework Master’s degree with a designated weighted average acceptable to the department.
5. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programs
- A relevant Master’s degree with a research thesis from OAU or any other approved institution, maintaining a minimum weighted average of 60% (B+).
- Research Proposal Requirement: All applicants for coursework and research-based programs (including Master’s and PhD tracks) must upload a structured research proposal/synopsis of between three (3) and five (5) pages.
NYSC & Transcript Notice: Nigerian applicants must upload a photocopy of their NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate. Additionally, you must arrange for your former institution to send your official academic transcript directly to the Postgraduate College, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife using the official Transcript Label downloaded from the portal.
Cost of Application Forms
OAU charges a tiered application fee processing structure via the Remita platform:
- Regular Postgraduate Programs (M.Sc., M.A., PhD, etc.): ₦20,000.00
- Professional Postgraduate Programs (MBA, Executive Masters, etc.): ₦25,000.00
Step-by-Step Portal Application Guide
The registration is completely paperless and can be done without being physically present on campus. Use the following precise layout instructions to apply:
1.Register an Account:Step 1.
Navigate directly to the official OAU Postgraduate Application Portal at pgapply.oauife.edu.ng. Click on “Create Application Account” and register using a valid, personal email address (preferably Gmail or Yahoo) and a strong password.
2.Select Program & Pay Fees:Step 2.
Log into your newly created workspace. Select your desired postgraduate department and program level. Generate your Remita RRR invoice and pay the application fee (₦20,000 or ₦25,000) securely online using your debit card.
3.Fill out the Application Database:Step 3.
Once the payment is verified, complete the 11-step biographical profile. Input your personal history, O’Level subject details, and previous academic degree qualifications.
4.Upload Required Documents:Step 4.
Upload clean scanned copies of your certificates, NYSC papers, birth certificate, and your research proposal (3–5 pages).
5.Submit and Print Transcript Label:Step 5.
Cross-check all information fields carefully. Accept the “Declaration Section” to submit your application. Finally, download the Transcript Label to send to your former university for transcript dispatch.
