The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially announced the commencement of online registration for the 2027 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for internal candidates.
School principals, examination officers, parents, and prospective candidates across Nigeria are urged to adhere strictly to the registration guidelines, portal requirements, and timeline issued by the council to ensure a smooth registration process.
Important NECO 2027 SSCE Registration Timeline
To avoid last-minute portal congestion or late registration penalty fees, school administrators should take note of the crucial dates outlined by NECO:
| Activity / Event | Official Timeline |
| Registration Portal Opening | Active / Ongoing |
| Late Registration Window | To be announced by NECO state offices |
| Examination Period | June – July 2027 (Internal Candidates) |
| Results Release Window | 90 days after the last paper |
Key Directives for School Administrators and Candidates
1. Mandatory Biometric Data Capture
NECO has reinforced its zero-tolerance policy against examination malpractice. All participating schools must ensure that candidates undergo proper biometric fingerprint capture during the registration process. Registrations completed without valid biometric verification will not be processed.
2. NIN Requirement
In line with Federal Ministry of Education guidelines, candidate registration requires a valid National Identification Number (NIN). School administrators must verify that candidate names and dates of birth on NECO portals match the details linked to their NIN records to prevent certification errors.
3. Approved Offline and Online Portal Registration
School heads must use the official NECO registration software provided on the council’s portal. Bulk candidate uploads must be cross-checked for subject combination accuracy before final submission and payment generation.
Step-by-Step NECO 2027 Registration Process for Schools
- Access the Portal: Visit the official NECO website (
neco.gov.ng). - Log In: School administrators should sign in using their assigned school login credentials.
- Purchase Registration Quota: Generate payment invoice codes and complete fee payment through authorized channels.
- Data Entry & Biometrics: Upload candidate passport photographs, capture biometric data, and input correct subject selections.
- Cross-Check & Submit: Print the candidate verification list for review by students and parents before final portal submission.
