The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially extended the deadline for concluding the 2025 admissions exercise into public universities. This decision means admissions will continue beyond the earlier cut-off date to give institutions enough time to finalize their processes.

Previous vs New Deadline

• Old Deadline: Friday, 31st October 2025
• New Deadline: Monday, 17th November 2025

Why JAMB Extended the 2025 Admission Deadline

The extension follows two key developments:

1. Request from AVCNU
   The Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU) sought additional time, explaining that a court directive paused the 2025/2026 admission process until 28th October 2025.
2. Newly Accredited Programmes by NUC
   On 29th October 2025, the National Universities Commission (NUC) approved 229 new programmes across 37 universities, and those institutions only recently began their admission processes.

JAMB’s Position

JAMB stated that the extension ensures:

• Fairness
• Inclusiveness
• Proper and complete admission processing for public universities

The board emphasized that this new deadline is final and all institutions must comply.
