Edo State University (EDSU), Uzairue, has officially announced the commencement of applications for its Edo State University Indigent Scholarship for the 2025/2026 academic session. This initiative, approved by the State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, aims to provide access to quality education for students of Edo State origin who face financial constraints.
The Edo State University Indigent Scholarship is a partial award that covers tuition fees for the entire duration of the recipient’s chosen undergraduate program. With up to 100 slots available, this is a significant opportunity for high-achieving but financially disadvantaged students to study at a world-class institution.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Edo State University Indigent Scholarship, applicants must meet the following strict requirements:
- Origin: Must be an indigene of Edo State.
- UTME Score: Must have scored a minimum of 180 in the 2025 JAMB UTME.
- Academic Standing: Must meet the departmental entry requirements (O’Level credits) for the chosen course.
- Language Proficiency: Candidates must demonstrate a high mastery of written and spoken English, which will be assessed via a Computer-Based Test (CBT).
Note: This scholarship does not cover oversubscribed programs such as Medicine, Law, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, and Engineering.
Required Documents for Application
Applicants must provide clear evidence to support their claims. The following documents are required for the Edo State University Indigent Scholarship application:
- Certificate of Local Government Origin: To prove you are an indigene of Edo State.
- JAMB Result Slip: Showing a score of 180 or above for the 2025/2026 session.
- O’Level Result(s): WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB results (maximum of two sittings).
- Evidence of Indigency: This may include a letter of recommendation from a community leader, clergyman, or a recognized traditional ruler confirming the student’s financial status.
- Passport Photograph: A recent colored passport-sized photo.
