According to official briefings from the Head of WAEC Nigeria National Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, the decision to withhold the results followed verified reports and intelligence gathered during the examination and script-marking exercises:
Unauthorized Use of Mobile Phones: Persistent violation of the ban on mobile phones and smart devices inside examination halls.
Organized School Cheating: Collusion between candidates, invigilators, and school authorities in designated centers.
Impersonation & Unauthorized Materials: Possession of pre-written answers, foreign materials, and candidate substitution during test sessions.
What Happens Next? Investigation & NEC Review Process
Candidates whose results are currently flagged or withheld should follow the official administrative review workflow:

WAEC’s preliminary investigation panel reviews supervisor reports, biometric logs, and examiner scripts for irregularities.
The compiled cases are submitted to the National Examinations Committee (NEC)—the highest decision-making body on examination conduct.
3.Final Determination: Step 3.
The NEC deliberates on each case individually. Proven infractions lead to result cancellation, while exonerated candidates have their results fully released.
4.Official Communication: Step 4.
Decisions taken by the committee are communicated directly to affected schools, state ministries of education, and candidate portals.
