Generating your profile code is the first and most vital step in the JAMB registration process. However, many candidates encounter frustrating errors. If you are struggling with your JAMB profile code issues, here are the most common problems and their active solutions.
1. “Record Not Found”
This error indicates that your National Identification Number (NIN) is not yet synchronized or present in the NIMC database used by JAMB.
- The Solution: First, double-check that the 11-digit NIN you sent is 100% correct. If the number is accurate and the error persists, you must visit the nearest NIMC office to request a “data validation” or “synchronization.”
2. “Wrong Parameter”
A “Wrong Parameter” message means you sent the SMS in an incorrect format. The JAMB system is an automated bot that only recognizes a specific command.
- The Solution: Use the exact format: NIN [space] 12345678901 (replace with your actual 11 digits) and send it to 55019 or 66019. Ensure you do not add extra spaces, commas, or full stops.
3. “Number Already Registered”
This means your NIN is already linked to a profile code on a specific phone number from a previous attempt or a prior year.
- The Solution: You must use the original phone number used for that NIN. If you have lost the SIM card, you must perform a “SIM Swap” at your service provider’s outlet. Once active, send RESEND to 55019 from that specific number.
4. “Unable to Verify Your NIN / NIMC Unknown”
This is typically a temporary technical glitch caused by heavy traffic on either the NIMC or JAMB servers.
- The Solution: Do not resend the message immediately, as this may waste your airtime. Wait for a few hours—or try very early in the morning when server traffic is low—and resend the request.
