The Federal Government has launched the FG tertiary institutions governance platform, officially known as the Federal Tertiary Institutions Governance and Transparency Platform (FTIGTP). The new system aims to strengthen transparency and accountability in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across Nigeria.
The Minister of Education, Chief Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, introduced the platform at the Ministry headquarters in Abuja on November 4, 2025. He explained that the platform will provide real-time data on school enrollment, funding, grants, and performance. This will help the government make informed decisions. In addition, institutions will now receive interventions based on measurable transparency and accountability records.
Furthermore, the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sai’d Ahmed, described FTIGTP as a major step in Nigeria’s digital education reforms. Former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, also praised the initiative. He stated that the policy reflects strong research and planning.
Heads of tertiary institutions pledged full cooperation. The Nigerian Education Data Initiative (NEDI) demonstrated the system during the launch event.
