The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the official deadlines for the 2025/2026 admission exercise across all Nigerian tertiary institutions.
This decision came during the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions, held on July 18, 2025, and chaired by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON.

Official Deadlines for 2025 Admissions
To maintain a uniform academic calendar across the country, JAMB set strict deadlines for all institutions:
- Public Universities: October 31, 2025
- Private Universities: November 30, 2025
- Polytechnics and Colleges of Education: December 31, 2025
In addition, public universities must forward their first-choice admission recommendations by September 30, 2025, while private universities must complete theirs by October 31, 2025.
These timelines will help institutions plan their academic sessions effectively and reduce delays in student enrollment.
Universities Yet to Submit Admissions
However, JAMB records from the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) show that some universities have not submitted their admission lists.
To ensure compliance, JAMB directed several institutions to begin their 2025 admission process immediately. These include:
- Northwest University, Kano
- Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil
- Benue State University, Makurdi
- Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna
- Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna
- Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo
- Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Funtua
Important Advisory
JAMB warned that institutions which ignore these deadlines will face consequences.
If any university fails to process its admissions within the approved period, unprocessed candidates may be reassigned automatically to other institutions through the JAMB CAPS system.
Therefore, institutions must act quickly to complete their admission processes and upload their recommendations before the final closing date.
Conclusion
The 2025 JAMB admission deadlines are part of a broader effort to streamline tertiary admissions and maintain consistency across Nigeria’s education system.
Prospective students are advised to follow official updates on the JAMB portal (jamb.gov.ng) and monitor their CAPS status regularly to stay informed about their admission progress.
