The management of Lagos State University has activated the online admission screening registration portal for the 2025/2026 academic session

Are you planning to study at Lagos State University (LASU) for the 2025/2026 academic session? Good news! The university has officially opened its Online Admission Screening Portal for all interested candidates.

This screening is for students who want to gain full-time undergraduate admission into LASU through the 2025 JAMB UTME. Read this guide carefully to know the requirements, who can apply, and how to register without any problem.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?

To be eligible for the LASU admission screening, you must meet the following general requirements:

1. First Choice in JAMB:
You must have selected Lagos State University (LASU) as your first choice institution during your 2025 UTME registration.

2. JAMB Score Requirement:
You must score 195 and above in your UTME. Any score below 195 is not accepted.

3. Age Requirement:
You must be at least 16 years old by October 1st, 2025. If you will not be 16 years by that date, you are not eligible to apply.

4. O’Level Requirements (SSCE/NECO/NABTEB):

You must have at least five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

These credits must be obtained in not more than two (2) sittings.

The results must be from WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB, and the exam must have been written before or in July 2025. Any exam written after July 2025 is not acceptable.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SOME COURSES

Some departments in LASU have extra conditions you must meet. Take note of the following:

• Medicine and Surgery & Dentistry:
  These two courses do not accept two sittings for O’level. You must have all your five credit passes in one sitting only.
• Engineering Courses:
  Candidates who wish to study Engineering courses must pay close attention:

You can use two sittings of O’level results.

However, you must have six (6) credit passes, not five.

The required subjects are:

• Mathematics
• Physics
• Chemistry
• English Language
• Two other science subjects (like Biology, Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, etc.)

Any one other subject

• Aeronautic and Astronautic Engineering:
  This course requires a credit pass in Further Mathematics. If you don’t have Further Maths, you are not qualified for this course.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:

If you’re still waiting for your WAEC results, here’s an important update you need to act on immediately.

LASU (Lagos State University) has officially allowed candidates to apply for the 2025 Admission Screening using Awaiting Result.

This means you can go ahead and complete your screening registration before the deadline, even if your WAEC result hasn’t been released.

After your result is out, make sure to:
1. Pay for the correction of details
2. Upload your WAEC result on the LASU portal immediately

Failure to register before the portal closes may cost you your chance of getting admission this year.

Important: This update is valid only for WAEC candidates. NECO awaiting candidates are advised to hold on for further confirmation.

All applicants must upload their O’level results (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) on the JAMB CAPS. If your result is not uploaded, you will not be considered for admission, even if your JAMB score is high.

HOW TO APPLY – STEP BY STEP GUIDE

2. Create your screening account using your JAMB registration number and other required details.

3. Fill in your personal and academic details correctly.

4. Upload your passport photograph and O’level results.

5. Submit and print out your confirmation slip.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

Q1: Can I apply if I didn’t choose LASU as first choice?
A: No. You must change LASU to your first choice on the JAMB portal before applying for the screening.

Q2: I got 193 in JAMB. Can I still apply?
A: No. The minimum score is 195 and above.

Q3: Can I use awaiting result?
A: Yes, its valid only for WAEC 2025 candidates awaiting results, NECO awaiting candidates are advised to hold on for further confirmation.

Q4: What if I have all credits but not in the required subjects?
A: You must meet the specific subject requirements for your course. If not, you won’t be admitted.

Q5: Is there going to be a physical post-UTME exam?
A: As of now, LASU uses online screening only. That means they will consider your JAMB score and O’level results — no physical test.

LASU CHANGES ADMISSION AGGREGATE GRADING SYSTEM FOR 2025/2026

Lagos State University (LASU) has introduced a new grading formula for calculating aggregate scores for admission, as confirmed in the ongoing 2025/2026 admission screening registration.

This change affects how both JAMB and O’Level results are calculated, which is 60% JAMB and 40% O’Level. All applicants are advised to take note and adjust their expectations accordingly.

NEW LASU AGGREGATE FORMULA:

JAMB Score Calculation:
Multiply your JAMB score by 0.15

O’LEVEL Calculation (Best 5 relevant subjects):
A1 = 8 points
B2 = 7 points
B3 = 6 points
C4 = 5 points
C5 = 4 points
C6 = 3 points

Add both your JAMB and O’Level points together to get your total aggregate score.

Example Calculation:

JAMB Score = 280 → 280 × 0.15 = 42
O’Level Grades: A1, B2, B3, C4, C5 = 8 + 7 + 6 + 5 + 4 = 30
Total Aggregate = 42 + 30 = 72%

These changes were confirmed through LASU’s updated screening system. All candidates should now use this format to avoid wrong assumptions about their admission chances.
